Boosting housing production with digital innovation: Green Metrics joins Digital Supercluster

March 19, 2025 · Ella Slupesky

Housing affordability and availability are critical challenges in British Columbia and beyond. A major bottleneck in addressing these issues is supply chain inefficiency, which slows down construction timelines, increases costs, and creates uncertainty for developers and builders. Green Metrics Technology Corp. is proud to collaborate with Tandem Studios and Liquid to develop a procurement support system that enhances supply chain transparency and efficiency for housing production.

This initiative is part of the Digital Supercluster's projects aimed at accelerating housing production through digital innovation. By leveraging data-driven insights and automation, our system will help manufacturers, builders and suppliers optimize procurement processes, reducing delays and improving cost predictability.

Addressing key challenges in housing supply chains

Housing production involves complex supply chains with numerous stakeholders, from material suppliers to contractors and logistics providers. Traditional procurement processes often lack real-time visibility, leading to inefficiencies:

  • Material shortages and delays that slow down projects and drive up costs.
  • Limited coordination between suppliers and builders, making it difficult to adapt to changing project needs.
  • Inefficient sourcing and purchasing decisions due to fragmented data and manual processes.

Our procurement support system introduces digital tools that provide real-time tracking, predictive analytics and automated workflows to streamline procurement and enhance supply chain resilience.

How the procurement support system makes a difference

Through our collaboration with Tandem Studios and Liquid, we are developing a system that will improve supply chain transparency by offering real-time data on material availability, costs and lead times; optimize procurement decisions using AI-powered insights to reduce waste and lower expenses; and enhance collaboration between builders, suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring smoother coordination and faster project execution.

A digital-first future for housing production

At Green Metrics, we believe digital solutions are key to unlocking efficiencies in housing production. This partnership with the Digital Supercluster and leading industry collaborators aligns with our mission to make construction smarter, more sustainable and more cost-effective.

Mike Kennedy, President of Green Metrics, joined Amy Vilis on DIGITAL's Blueprint for Growth podcast to discuss how digital transformation is shaping the future of housing. He highlighted the importance of innovation in making housing more affordable and sustainable, and shared how BuildBlox is helping smaller manufacturers compete by simplifying and speeding up the design process — reducing costs and removing the need for expensive drafting licences.

By addressing supply chain inefficiencies with a digital-first approach, we aim to contribute to the acceleration of housing projects in British Columbia and set a precedent for broader industry adoption.
